background updating tabs

Does Open Mini updates (refresh) open tabs content by default when they're in background? and when the app is in background?

and if so, how frequently?

I ask this because I see that the app uses high (3%) battery and sometimes as soon as I change tab the new tab fastly (too fastly) updates.

(I like and want the automatical refreshes, I'm just curious about how it works)
