Why are default search engines freaking hardcoded and locked?

It used to be configurable, removable, you could change the keyword. And now, I can't do d**k.
I don't need Yahoo and "y" search keyword, but this stupid nonsense is taking it over from Youtube which I do use but I can't because Yahoo already has "y" hardcoded. I ant to use "d" keyword for Dictionary.com. Again, can't use it because frigging Duck Duck Go is already using it. WHY are you people doing this? We've come from ultra configurable Opera 12.x to this hardcoded locked down nonsense that's just pissing me off.
Even allowing me to change keywords for all of them would be enough so I could re-arrange them. But no, they are totally locked and unchangeable.

I couldn't agree more! I went in to get rid of the yahoo search because it's causing issues elsewhere and I never use it. Guess what? I can't even disable it let alone delete it! WTF is that all about? I can remove search engines in all other browsers I use but Opera was my favorite until now. Guess it may be time to find another favorite. Thanks Opera!
