I found a way to add Qwant Search Engine to Opera. Qwant, to those unfamiliar with it, is another pretty cool privacy search engine, and a little fancier than StartPage, Ixquick, or DuckDuckGo.

As you know, you first go to Settings > Manage Search Engines > Other Search Engines > Add New Search

Then, this is the necessary information you will need to fill into the respective boxes:

      Name: Qwant

      Keyword: q

      Address: https://www.qwant.com/?q=%s&client=opensearch

Then, click SAVE and then DONE.

After adding this search engine to Opera, you can search with it by placing an q in Opera's omni search bar, then a space, and then your search request. That's all there is to it.

Good luck, and have fun searching with Qwant Privacy Search Engine within Opera!

This solution is the best available so far, but it would be great to add Qwant to the default search engine list, or even better, to offer the possible to choose the default search engine in all available.

Hi shaffe, I hear you! If I had my druthers I'd change few things with Opera.

          I'd have:

          1. A secure and encrypted download page.

          2. Advanced settings that are easy to access.

          3. A Chrome-like search engines page --which allows users to add search engines and then make them default.

          4. A forum where a user is free to edit his posts without any time restrictions.

That said, that would only be if I had my druthers --which I don't!

shaffe, DuckDuckGo is a terrific search engine which can easily be made default in Opera. StartPage by Ixquick, is another excellent search engine. It has Google search results, but without Google's privacy concerns. Qwant is interesting. That's for sure.

All this said, Opera is still my favorite browser by far.

          Thanks for commenting.
