Youtube shorts make Opera crawl to a snails pace
It eats up my CPU
I'm Premium, all extensions deactivated.
Opera is the only brower behaving like that.
Can we have some feedback? IS anything happening in this so called support forum?

@leocg DLL-Files is a site as old as the internet. None of my anti malwares foudn anything wrong with the DLL I downloaded . And once again: the problem is now fixed.
Fixed!
Hello
I've finally (accidentally) identified the problem. Following up to you all so you can help if any other people come across it too .
This was a corrupted DLL in my system32: msmpeg2vdec.dll
MPEG2 video decoder. Weird.
Anways : I've installed a game, hotwheels unleashed 2 and it tried to load the splash screen videos and windows kept spaming me with error message concerning msmpeg2vdec.dll "'not being a valid windows dll and couldn't be loaded" . It clicked! Must be it!
Downloaded the dll from DLL-files.com, had to fiddle a bit to obtain administrator rights for the whole of system32 folder and replaced the dll (you can find plenty of How To videos on how to do that, it's not hard) .
Instantly fixed : all videos play in opera without any issue. Youtube shorts don't make my computer lag anymore. Everything is back in perfect working order!
Don't ask me how it happened , why a MPEG2 dll would cause that much issues etc, no idea.
Thanks Saint Hotwheels! (cool game by the way)

@kageblink
Try to download and replace msmpeg2vdec.dll located in system32 (you will have to obtain admin rights to move/delete/replace/paste in this folder, there are tons of tutorials on how to do that on the internet)
I know I had issues with opera refusing to play most MP4 videos (this includes like 10% of youtube videos) and tons of other videos on other sites .
@leocg here's a video demo
Shorts killing Opera (as I show: all extensions disabled)

Youtube videos not playing when in AVC1 :

Ironically , those 2 videos I just uploaded to youtube to show you, Opera can't play them ^^'

FF, chrome and Edge play it just fine , to test it, I downloaded the video from youtube using jdownloader and it plays on my system just fine.
Basically, my opera will not render any MP4 (on other sites ) that has AVC1 has a codec. AND youtube shorts is having it on his knees.

I'm pretty sure that your computer hardware specs are the problem
No. No other browser give me that issue . Also all AVC1 videos actually give me problem on Opera as it can not render them but my system's player and other browsers can.
There's something wrong with Opera, period.
go there https://www.melflix.com/videoTest.do
Test Streaming. For me right away it says " nope"!
if I go there: https://midimusic.github.io/browsertest/index.html#self
Opera can't load the mp4 format video but will load the audio
And here https://tekeye.uk/html/html5-video-test-page , same crap
