Hello Opera Support Team,
I am currently in the process of transitioning to a new PC and am attempting to synchronize all my data across devices. While I am able to log into my Opera account without issue – using my Google account login credentials – I am encountering significant difficulties when trying to synchronize my passwords.
Here’s the main problem: although I can log into Opera with my Google account and its associated password, this does not seem to enable password synchronization. When I try to synchronize my data, I am prompted to enter an "Opera-specific" password, which is both confusing and frustrating, as I don’t actually have an independent Opera password. I only use my Google account for login purposes.
I’ve tried entering my Google account password in the synchronization field, but this doesn’t allow me to sync my passwords. It’s clear that I need a separate Opera password for full synchronization, but I’m not sure where to locate this Opera password, or how to create or reset it, considering I rely solely on my Google account for login.
This distinction between logging in with a Google account and needing a separate Opera password to synchronize passwords creates a frustrating barrier to fully utilizing Opera’s features. It would be immensely helpful if the password synchronization feature could be directly linked to my Google account credentials, as it is during the login process.
Could you please clarify how I can find or set up an Opera-specific password if it’s required for synchronization? Or, is there a way to use my Google account credentials for all aspects of synchronization, including password sync? Such an option would greatly improve the usability and convenience of the Opera browser for users who rely on Google accounts for seamless access.
Thank you for your help and assistance with this issue. I look forward to your response.
Best regards.
