No, my 3 antiviruses aren't a problem. I didn't mention them because I'm a noob, but because I felt someone would ask me to run my PC for viruses. I know my stuff, don't worry, and I know how to configure them to add security onto each other, rather than get in the way of others working their magic. I was usually happy with Avast, but one day it didn't catch a virus that Panda caught, thankfully it wasn't a bad one, so I simply decided to have them both running at the same time (only when writing new executable files, so they don't use a lot of resources either.) There's also Microsoft's thingy in the background, it catches a lot more false alarms than the rest but being paranoid, I'm keeping it around for now, but I'll probably disable it at some point.
Not that it matters to this topic, but I wrote myself an antivirus back in 1991. Wasn't much of a feat back then, since all viruses were just hooking their code into the bootsector, so it'd be easy to just find and disassemble their code, analyze what it did, and determine if they should be neutered and replaced with a self-replicating bootsector antivirus. That was cool, and I had a 100% success rate with it. Sadly, it never became well known to the general audience. Sort of like the Opera of antiviruses 😛
BTW, the Java update was marked as installed in my program control panel, so I'm guessing this one issue is solved, but Opera still won't run without freezing. I let it 'freeze' in the background last night just to make sure it wasn't just a long operation being stalled, and sure thing, this morning it was still frozen.
I think I'll give up on it for now... 😑 And either switch to Chrome or Vivaldi, I'm not sure yet. (Vivaldi has vertical tabs in the box, which is nice, but it's pathetic compared to the Sidewise extension in terms of feature set. Everything in the UI generally feels so amateurish...)
