Do you use any anti-virus and/or security software? If so, have you checked with them disabled?
I disabled panda antivirus and windows defender (seems to have enabled itself without my knowing) and then opened opera, it froze like usual but then I restarted windows explorer from the task manager and it fixed it, I re-enabled panda and its fine.
