Hi, I just ran into this same issue.
How the hell has this still not been fixed.
Putting it to "tab" instead of "tab and space" also doesn't remove the functionality with space, which is really annoying.

Search engine short-cut setting "tab" does not work.Opera GX
Earlier I was trying to look up z-moves for Pokémon and suddenly wound up on Amazon.
After reading up on the topic and finding the correct settings it turns out that you cannot remove the search engine short-cuts.
So I tried to set it to "tab" instead of "tab or space", but when I type "z " it still goes to amazon in spite of me not clicking tab.
I have already closed and re-opened the browser. How can I fix this?
(If anybody knows, I am curious why they would not allow you to change the short-cuts)
