I reference the much useful thread where I've learnt to change speed dial aspect to site-provided images.
I've tried that thing with my speed dial bookmarks, and it seems that, beside working well for many sites, there are still some limitations:

1. some sites, like Wish.com and Archive.org, uses SVG images as main page icon. It seems it goes undetected by Opera, so no image avail.
2. some other sites, like Ebay.com and Drive.Google.Com, have multiicon images (Ebay), or, very little images (Drive). The selector for bookmark image allow for moving inside the image, but not for resizing, so puzzle or mini-icon in those cases.
3. finally, other sites shows an image intermittently, and I dunno why this happens, but if selected it gets lost.
   Sample, for instance, at this italian site: https://clienti.irenyou.gruppoiren.it/ where logo image comes out only sometimes and then vanish away. This is probably out of control of Opera, but I try to ask if it could depend from protocols or HTTP conversation while opening the page?

So to end this topic, I wish try to request the following points, to try improve the Opera Speed Dial Image grabbing functionality:

1. to recognize also SVG images
2. to make user able to also zoom images (while still, keeping ability to move inside the images like it is now)
3. eventually, to check if HTTP conversation tricks or details could hide or hinder, or instead reveal, the images available on some sites.

Locked out from Authentication on Opera mobile Browser on Android 4.2
because of Recaptcha not working here (I am actually writing this from the Pc)

Steps to (try to) reproduce the issue:
on Android 4.2, try to authenticate on Opera Account, Opera Support or Opera Forums from Opera Mobile (latest version supported here)

Expected behavior and actual one:

[Note that, I am writing this from my laptop, because it's impossible to authenticate
to Opera Forums from Android 4.2.]

When Opera asks me to reauthenticate on my mobile (antiquate) android 4.2 device,
I'm in the pain, as All Opera sites uses the Recaptcha method for authentication,
but it is not supported on older Android devices,
and sometimes it won't even show, sometimes is inactive
and could not be bypassed (see screenshots).

Also seeing the big bunch of problems associated with Recaptcha on Opera forums,
I think Opera should try to find another method to authenticate the human users.

But in the meantime, you should consider that you are kicking off away
all the users that are having an older device which cannot be updated
to more recent Android versions.

I ask to disable Recaptcha authentication requirements from all devices where it is not currently working.

Also please note that Recaptcha is actually property of Google and that
you are delegating an important thing as human authentication
to a concurrent rigid organization that is not easing in any way for the users.

No assistance is possible for Recaptcha on Google and they are handling
it in a rigid, uncompromising authoritarian way,
possibly cutting the wheels to competitors.

Also the alternate phone authentication, with code sent to my phone, won't work because after entering the code, the submit button won't get enabled anyway (I think this is also a bug).

Not that, I'm having same very problems on authentication also with many other web portals and sites, just because everyone in the world uses Recaptcha for human authentication, but it has ben buy by Google some time ago and then it is no more handled in the interest of the whole community.

Amazon assistant back again 2021/08 - Opera desktop version 78.0.4093.112 - and could not be removed!
Extension is hidden everywhere in settings or extension manager! No way to remove or disable it.

Seems Opera is going to left out the user's privacy to bring money in, and won't let users do what they want on their computer.
Time to search for a new browser, not already compromised by business.
Please any help is welcome to remove this forced gadget, or I should decide to backup to previous version and change to another browser more privacy respectful.
Removal of unwanted tools should be always possible. Also, first of all, such AD tools should Not be installed on behalf of the user and behind his shoulders!!!
Only because Amazon exists in the world and it has success on selling things, it doesn't mean it should have access to my behaviours on other sites, and have an extension permanently installed on my computer. This is a greater privacy violation from Opera toward all users.
Is Opera no more committed to respect user's rights and privacy, and do sells user's privacy to the big selling industry?
Who is in charge of piloting the Opera ship and what are the decisions taken on behalf of us? Is possible to have confidence in what they do at this point?
This part of Opera is growingly bad and is not the first time they try do do such things.
For me it is probably time to come back to an open source web browser as I feel myself menaced and outraged from this behavior. Real sad feelings come from my heart.

@leocg I've tried workspaces when introduced in Opera.
They don't solve nothing as they keep all tabs permanently
loaded, only hide them, but they are still in memory (as seen in task manager).
Plus, not very easy when having tab active and switching, remember of problems.
Disabled completely.
As an hygiene measure anyway, I don't keep more than 20-30 max tab open, and in case of temporary crisis, I use a small extension like Tab Hamster that let me group and store tabs by argument or whatever, while removing them from memory and open tab list.

@leocg: Also, disabling dark mode (with all dark mode extensions disabled!) leaves all bars dark and all tabs dark and also tab contents like Yahoo page dark. This is staying even after rebooting.
And in settings, I cannot even view the switches, so I'm clicking "on the right" of the setting for Opera dark mode and I see the External border and sidebar change colors, and nothing else.
I' ve restarted Opera and the problems are still there.
How can I return to previous version of the browser? I'm completely stunned and cannot use the browser in these conditions!

OK - works ONLY after doing the following:

• <> 1 - Go to Opera extensions managing page (upper left "O" menu -> Extensions -> Extensions).

• <> 2 - scroll until seeing the "Dark Theme for Google" extension

• <> 3 - check the second checkbox "consent access to search results" for this extension.

Then the extension do work immediately!!

@xxkernljrxx update your browser to latest version. Seems they have fixed the permission problems. You better do that before ajll.
Any way, right of message there's "go to the extension" button. In the first ext box that opens, you should enable permissions for the extension to access the webpages, or, give to the extension additional permissions if required.

@SmartNetworks [Opera desktop latest 68.X, W8.1] I can confirm that this is a very big problem with this extension.
It happens very often, every time there is some popup or similar window appearing in the front.
The only workaround, to interact with the popup window, is currently to disable temporarily the Dark Theme extension on the page, with a brief click on the icon, for the time necessary to fill the fields and select the options or click the buttons, then reenable.
I swear the developer being able to cure this very problem soon!!

@McSqueezy-0 Ok, strange path to make it work something that should work easily out-of-the-box!
It seems somewhat dangerous, however, as I dunno that crxextract external site, and to download that zip from them is a bit dangerous as they can play with that in any way before to send it to you, put a rootkit inside or likely.
Should be way better to pinpoint the original problem on your machine or Opera installation and to solve that, to avoid such a security issue.
Have you tried to backup your main Opera account, then delete it, and to restore from backup? I seem to remember that there's a way to do this.
When I had to reinstall Opera from scratch, the accounts were fully restored from Opera website, just providing the right account credentials (obviously).

Interesting path anyway, things you've learned are amazing and thanks to have told to us all.

@CTM-1 That's not true, as that extension works for me and many other users. I think more of something that could interfere with the extension, and this could happen after some Opera update, as said by many users.
Have you tried to disable all other extensions and then reboot the browser?
(I am simply another user, just trying to help).

Solutions for this problem may vary, depending from the single user's browser situation.

That problem message could be caused from both:

• simple situation, that could easily be solved going the standard extensions update way: go to extension manager (click the "cube" icon) and look for the upper right Update button, or if not there, for (usually topping) any extension requiring user intervention, say update or option/permission change - if you can solve the problem at this level, you have no need to go further;

• or more complicated situation, which involves:

• changing the way you launch the Opera browser (just for this time only, or, preparing a new shortcut for it, or, permanently). That is, adding an additional option to the command that launches Opera. This will enable you to view something different in extenson manager, and hopefully, solve the problem.

• to easy your way, have a text editor ready open, as notepad or textpad or whatever (not office or word). This lets you prepare the command beforehand, the copy it away for execution in one of the available ways.

• begin with, copying to the editor the current actual execution path of Opera.
  You can get it from Opera itself in About page; or, you can get it from current Opera execution shortcut properties (usually right-click or long press context menu, properties).

• now in editor, you have to add, to the end of command, a single space (required), then this additional option (as said in many above posts):

--show-component-extension-options

• as a sample only, for instance, this is the result for Windows, if Opera installed in local profile:

C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Programs\Opera\launcher.exe --show-component-extension-options

NOTE: here <USERNAME> means your current local path username.

• having the command ready in the editor, we can proceed.

• before all, be sure to be closing / killing all the Opera browser instances running, and wait for it all to end completely (totally: after closing Opera, go to task manager of your system and wait for it all to end, better way - if short on memory or too many tabs, you will have to wait some more time - , or eventually kill them if totally hung - caution, there's some risk doing it this way).
  Wait also for the Opera autoupdate stuff to end totally if running (still look for it in task manager).

• how to proceed to execute the command: you can either do it different ways, depending on what actually you want to do:

• only once, say:

• via command line execution / command prompt, or whatever named in your system;

• or, by direct command execution box (Alt-R in Windows)

• or more steady:

• by expressly making a new Opera shortcut for it, with the above command inside (also execution path field is required to be set, to point to the exe container folder position), and saving it by naming something different from the main usual shortcut (note: this is the preferred way, because this problem is somewhat recurring from time to time, and having a solution ready to go is more straightful);

• or finally, by modifying the standard Opera shortcut, to add that option permanently to your Opera runs (this will left in permanence the hidden extensions unhidden, which could be nice or not, depending from your thoughts).

You have to understand that this stuff is because some Opera browser's components are actually implemented by using the browser extensions infrastructure (it is more easily updateable) but are kept as totally hidden from user's eyes (this could leverage some privacy concerns, read forth).

• So proceed with one of the above solutions, restarting the browser with that additional -- option
• this will make all the hidden extensions visible in the extensions manager (the cube icon), enabling you to do the required update from there:
• after restart with -- option, go to extension manager - the cube -
• you will see many unknown "before hidden" extensions; one or more of them is probably requiring the permission update or some other intervention kind.

The hidden extension are there, and cannot actually be removed or disabled. For some of them, this is not posing any question, for others, it is doubt what they are for and what data they can eventually carry out or in.

Seems that (see other posts in thread), more privacy concerned Chromium derived browsers, like for instance Vivaldi or Brave, have far less of them, but some hidden extensions are still required to have some browser's additional functionality actually work.

This comment is an effort to try to do a reasonable general-purpouse resume of the above posts, but you can read further above for more details, or something I've eventually left out.
You can read all the posts in that thread for more details, many users have posted additional useful infos and screens.

This problem has been "solved" many times by Opera developers, but it is recurring sometimes, and the "--" option procedure is sometimes required to shout off the persisting message and/or the red dot by the cube in the left bar.

So, it seems this could be a good practice to have saved an Opera shortcut with this option ready somewhere.

Please someone (better if an @admin) reply and explain to me what I have to do.
I have still this extension installed on my desktop browser, but I've seen only recently that it has disappeared from the Opera Addons portal (<<The page you're looking for could not be found.>>).

1. has it been retired from the developer? Or has it been discarded by Opera team?

Nice but a little rough. Lets me easily select and delete the cookies I want to.
Seems able also to edit and/or add cookies but I've not tested yet.
When I got time I will send some UI change suggestions to the dev for the cookie list part.

In IT terms, especially browsers technology, it's eons.
Do Not Use This Extension: Completely Abandoned
(except for six ignored pull requests).
Licence: it includes a module that replaces all the fonts used, and one other third-party pop-up generator module, both "can be removed" (not useful anyway).
This sounds as advertising.
Another Reason For Not Using This Dead Extension.

To handle those pages, the developer of the extension should IMHO:

1. follow also the OBJECT links as they were external links (aka, load the inner DOCUMENT);
2. look also inside SVG tags (process them);
3. interpret "xlink" type links that are put inside Image tags that are inside svg, as they were normal image links.

@sybil013 sorry my friend, from what you say, it seems you have a bigger problem than simple advertising. Please check you system with a serious and updated antivirus (Ms defender on win it's ok) and a well know affordable anti-malware like MBAM. My 5 cents.
