I can't turn on Synchronization

Ugh. I cannot get to auth.opera.com to log in to sync my browser from my Windows laptop. I can log into my account from other browsers, and even on the Opera browser from Linux, but not from the Opera browser from Windows. Keeps saying "This page isn't working. auth.opera.com didn't send any data. ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE." I need to be able to log into Opera from the Windows browser because the settings, tabs, etc are what I need to save and then use on Linux.

@bajajumun First, try resetting your settings. If it doesn't help, try with a clean profile directory.

@leocg How do you use reset Settings? Also, I don't want to lose all my tabs--I have 30+ tabs open in 6 workspaces!
I reset Settings to default but that did nothing. So I guess now it's off to a fresh user profile.

@leocg I renamed the old profile, and restarted Opera to create a clean profile. It did not help! I still cannot access auth.opera.com.

@bajajumun Only when you try to access Sync? Or any situation? Can you access from other browsers?

Also when I try to sign onto the forum. I can access it from other browsers in Windows. (I'm accessing the forum now from Vivaldi.) I can also access it from Opera in Linux.

@bajajumun The results are the same if you use a private window?

@bajajumun It seems that something is blocking the access to the page.

Run it in Safe mode and check?

@bajajumun Try disable other programs, specially antivirus and firewalls.

Yes.
When I try to sign in I get this url: https://auth.opera.com/account/login
Try that.
How are you trying to get to sync to sign in.

@leocg None of these was necessary, especially something as traumatic as resetting my profile, thus loosing 30+ tabs in six seperate folders. The problem finally resolved itself on both Windows and Linux.
With all due repect, next someone asks for help with a simimar problem, perhaps 'resetting the profile' or 'starting with a clean install' are some of the last things you recommed as troublethooting steps?
Thank you for your time and effort!

@bajajumun You can create a new profile directory while keeping the old one, so if a new profile doesn't solve the issue, you can return to the old one.
Profile reset is a valid solution and, sometimes, the only one.

Go to sync.opera.com in Opera for windows.
Login to your account using same username and password.
you will find an option to "reset passphrase" there.
When you reset passphrase, you won't loose any data from device.
Once you reset passphrase, try logging in to your device.Go for it!
