@burnout426 Thanks for that! I followed your advice (and leocg's) and found the sessions folder. There were THREE session... and TWO tabs.... files. I closed the extra windows and ONE session.... file was removed by Opera leaving 2 each of session... and tabs,,,, files.
I then created and deleted tabs and watched the files change size etc. ONE pair of files remained static so I deleted them.
Then I restarted Windows and Opera started (automatically) with ONLY ONE window. YAY! I now hope this fix is permanent but only time will tell.

@Roachella I ran into the exact same issue where Discord Web kept freezing on “RTC Connecting” and refused to start voice chat, even after flushing DNS, reinstalling network drivers, and even changing the server region — nothing helped at all. Strangely, the moment I switched from my usual browser to Opera (and even tested another browser just to be sure), voice chat worked instantly without any tweaks. It definitely feels like a browser-specific WebRTC or extension conflict rather than a pure network problem, so if anyone’s still stuck, trying a different browser is honestly the quickest workaround...

@mmmatukas , Did you test the 10 tabs in private mode when extensions are not active?

Also did you benefit from the RAM limiter which allows to set hard limits or fine-tune exactly how much memory GX can use.

@telegramsam I disabled Opera's own ad blocker and Youtube videos play ok, I have Adblock Plus installed and works with Youtube.

If ever needed, to cripple updates in Opera, in the "autoupdate" folder in Opera's install folder, rename "opera_autoupdate.exe" to "opera_autoupdate.off". Then, in the Windows Task Scheduler, disable all of Opera's autoupdate tasks. Then, block Opera's autoupdate servers.

Then, monitor https://blogs.opera.com/desktop/ for new versions and download and install the new version when you want. Then, repeat the disabling of opera_autoupdate.exe and the autoupdate tasks.

What happens when you got the URL opera://password-manager/settings and choose to export your passwords to a CSV file?

You can also click in a folder to show its speed dials, left-click and hold on a speed dial in the folder, drag it outside the folder between 2 dials that are not in a folder and drop it. It can be a little tricky sometimes though. Using opera://bookmarks will make it way easier.

In Opera GX only, you can goto the URL opera://settings/early_bird, turn on the Guest Tabs" feature and restart Opera. Then, when you're on a site, you can right-click the tab and choose to open that site in a guest tab to sign into that site with a different account. Guest tabs work in a normal window. No need to use a private window.

The downside Guest Tabs though is that all guest tabs share the same session. This means the feature will only allow you to log into a site one 1 extra account.

With that said though, it shows that Opera might be able to hack something in themselves. It might just take a lot of work.

It really is a bummer that in Chromium, all tabs in all private windows share the same session. Would be nice if Chromium could do something about that.

I think Zen on the other hand does something cool. You can create extra workspace and then set each workspace to use a different profile (and therefore session). That might be nice. too.
