Personalized News on Startup Tab

At some point I'm pretty sure I had personalized news turned on for my opera startup page. I found this very useful but subsequently I've upgraded my computer and re-installed opera and I can't figure out how to re-enable this.

I can view personalized news by clicking the news icon in the sidebar but I want it on my start page. All I seem to be able to do is make the speed dial my start page. (Which as far as I'm concerned is totally useless - and borderline a privacy issue).

Anyone know how to re-enable it on the startup page?

    Thanks Brad

      For reference its this: https://blogs.opera.com/desktop/2016/05/introducing-smarter-personal-news-opera/

Also here is how to turn it OFF - I want to turn it ON https://www.ghacks.net/2016/01/14/how-to-remove-news-from-operas-new-startpage/

I don't see personalized news in experiments :(

It looks like the URL is opera://startpage/news but I can't for the life of me figure out how to set that as my start page. I think perhaps opera has removed the ability to set a start page (Grr). I've tried several extensions to no avail. If anyone knows a way to do this (i'm using Opera 45)

        Thanks Brad
