@miyukiwork huh, is this called downloading improvement?? really? In this version, Everyime I try to download a file, it takes too much time to start the downloading process after I click download button (downloading isn't start instantly after press download) Sometimes, it takes 10 seconds, sometimes 15 seconds, sometimes only 6-7 seconds. But previous version was fine. in previous version downloading process starts instantly. Whatever another problem is, in this version's download manager is messed up. The total file downloading size & currently how much opera mini just download isn't showed up always. And its changing as the remaing time, total file size & speed. But in here the file size should always shown (it doesn't make any sense because in the upper right size it always shows the remaining time & upper left side it always shows the current downloading speed. (And the both remaining time shows different time) Take a look at this Screenshot: http://goo.gl/qdEuj6 Definitely it's a bug. So, fix this. Whatever, in this Accelerated Downloading speed version I got slow downloading speed rather than previous version.

i don't know what to say... turn on High Saving Mode - it can't load a website. for example, accessing bing.com turn off Data Saving Mode - blazing fast. and my data package also drain fast if i turn off this saving mode feature.

-if i turn on Max, does Max can save data while i browsing using Mini with Data Saving turned off?-

@farhanaamin, thank you for the video, it helps a lot!

@jackob11, can you please share URLs to the download pages with files that are problematic for you? Do you use mobile or WiFi connection? If mobile, then what is your operator and which country are you from?

@deathbearry, do you see any error page? What country are you from? If you turn on Max and turn off compression in Mini, then only pages using HTTP should be compressed and the compression rate will not be as good as using Extreme or High compression in Mini.

@mbaluta I'm on Android 5.1.1 using 3G (HSPA+) network connection. From Bangladesh. Mobile Operator:- Teletalk & Airtel BD. Here I try to download Opera 42.7 for Android Version from Opera Server. Link:- http://www.opera.com/mobile/download/versions/ Also I attach some screenshot to prove my problem. The main problem is the problematic download manager UI & slow downloading speed. Screenshots:- Number 1. http://goo.gl/eRBQc0 Here speed shows 4KB/s & upper right side remaining time shows 54 minutes while the downloading bar remaining time shows 2 hours.(Which remaining time should I trust? ) Number 2. http://goo.gl/RUZIkQ I want the download manager UI as like this screenshot. The full size of the downloading file & how much it currently download should be always shown. (Like this downloaded 420KB from 42MB) but also look at the speed in this snapshot. It's slow. Number 3. http://goo.gl/1HgFqG Here the downloading speed is also slow & it doesn't make any sense to show current speed at downloading bar because in the upper left side the speed always shown. Number 4. http://goo.gl/DHReKB Another problematic remaining time shows & slow speed. One shows 31 minutes left & other shows 12 minutes left. (Which should I trust? )

And why the downloading bar info changed as current speed, remaining time & total size. Since in the upper side the current speed & remaining time always shown so then in the downloading bar must show always the downloading file size as like Screenshot number 2. So, fix this problematic download manager UI ASAP. Also take a look about slow downloading speed. N.B - I don't have any speed limit on my network. Sometimes the downloading speed got 300-400KB/s but it's very rare.

yes. i did see the error page. i'm from Malaysia. well...i guess that my telco didn't provide decent internet speed. does it affect Opera Mini compression if the internet service is poor?

I just downloaded this version on a fresh install of Android 6.0 Marshmallow tablet (running in Virtualbox). Opera Mini won't even load, it just says "To run Opera Mini you need more space. Try removing some apps or clearing app data." Again this is a fresh install with only one other app I got from the store.

The device has 2.0 GB of RAM ( 1.1 GB used) and 1.11 GB free of hard drive space.

I searched everywhere and can't find the hardware requirements, but surely it has enough resources to run?

@ux-tester Unfortunately, it's a known issue that Opera Mini does not install correctly in virtualbox or similar.

                  thanks miyukiwork,

Is there a version that does? Maybe an older one? We'd really like to test our website on Opera Mini, and a virtual machine is currently our only option.

@ux-tester: you can run Opera Mini on your PC using MicroEmulator: https://dev.opera.com/articles/installing-opera-mini-on-your-computer/ And as a practical tip I recommend to also check desktop Opera 12.16, if your site doesn't work correctly there, then it's very likely you are gonna have some problems on Opera Mini as our servers use nearly the same engine. If you encounter any problems, don't hesitate to contact us. We are really happy when web developers actually care about us:)

Could you add redownload option on completed download? Sometimes files downloaded incorrectly. I also really want completely dark theme across menu and navigation bar, like the new feature of opera desktop version. Thank you

@d-wa, can you please describe in what situations file can download incorrectly? That should not happen I think.

@anders6, com.opera.mini.android is an update to old version of Opera Mini and it's meant for people who have used old version for ages. Please install com.opera.mini.native.

@cubot - tried Arc Welder but it says it requires Chrome OS (which I do not have).

@mbaluta - thanks for the recommendation. I tend to prefer VMs over emulators due to past experience and trying to replicate as closely as possible what a user using the actual device would see. Won't rule it out though. Great tip about Opera 12.16. I've installed it and already noted one thing I need to fix on our site!

hijacking thread for out of topic remark

This is kind of a generic topic so asking for something to be implemented in Opera Mini is not exactly out of topic although it would fit better in Suggestions Box.

Opera Mini's web Streaming feature needs upgrade. Seriously it takes too long time to start streaming. Loading..Loading..Loading..Loading..Loading.. & .. Loading But after loaded the video. Then it works so well. So fast.. Yes, amazingly fast BUT Problem goes on when I clicked 'Play' button Everytime it starts slow loading and loading & at this Loading stage if I press back button then Opera Mini hangs my device & crashed always.

Moreover, Opera Mini can't play (mpg) formats video for streaming.

How can one check on server if Opera Mini is running in saving mode? I don't see Opera Mini in User Agent string anymore, even in extreme saving mode. And HTTPXREQUESTED_WITH is always the same - com.opera.mini.native.

We have problem with Opera Mini, it fails to execute any Javascript on the page after "Uncaught SecurityError: Blocked a frame with origin "http://origin" from accessing a cross-origin frame.", when other browsers do not have such error. Moreover without saving mode Opera Mini works just fine without such error.

Why Opera Mini's first loading (first connection setup) is too slow ???? If I try to stream/play any video then the first loading takes so long time. Also, When I try to download any file, Opera Mini can't able to start download instantly. It takes damn long time to start download. But if I pause & resume then it can pause & resume instantly. Facebook is a issue. After adding 'Facebook Optimization' feature. Then it takes more time to successfully enter Facebook. Is there has any problem on Opera Mini server? Is the Access Time/Ping Rate is too high? Why Opera Mini has slow connection setup problem? Fix this ASAP

I'm so getting increasingly frustrated by OperaMini especially in when Data savings is activated. Like its not worth it anymore. Everything seems to broken.

                                              Streaming takes ages.

Downloading a file more than 3MB takes ages to start. It often outputs "Invalid Link". In contrast, UCMini starts downloading the same file immediately.

Pages broken, that is, Incomplete page rendering of pcworld.com, black bands on articles in theverge.com, broken engadget.com...just to name a few.

No way to clear Download History without deleting the file on Storage.

My sense of loyalty is waning.

Very Speedy. Does not work on the Transport for London Journey Planner, usually referred to as TFL Journey Plannner, so mostly useless to many people living in London UK. At least does no work on my Samsung Galaxy Fame. Other browsers access it fine.

Ok, @miyukiwork you said "we've accelerated download speed" but how? Opera Mini devs are used to say that there's no way to accelerate the download speed. If ISP provide well speed then only you can get well speed. Many days ago, I've a feature request named "Multiple Threaded Connection" for each individual downloading file. I know this can't able to increase the speed beyond my ISP provide but it surely can help to fully utilize the bandwidth to download files. And as of now, most of the web server supports web throttling/acceleration feature. So, it would be better if the deves add this feature. But from Opera Quality QA team. They deny. They argue with me that it wont help. I don't even know why??? !!!! Moreover, I also said that Opera Mini servers are too poor to handle the downloading stuffs. We can see a clear winner if we look & test both Opera Mini & UC Browser. In file downloading speed or downloading management UC always wins over Opera Mini.

Unlike Video Player, There has no option to wind forward or backward in the built in Audio Player. Why? While in video steaming I can swipe forward or backward the playing video but while audio streaming Opera Mini just can't. Please add, forwarded-backward button in the audio player.

Moreover, If a audio file is 27MB sized file Opera Mini can able to play that following audio instantly after click PLAY. But if a video file is even 300KB sized file Opera Mini can't able to play that following video instantly. After click PLAY it does "Loding..Loading..Loading..Loading.. & Loading. And after 4-5 minutes of loading then the video played. What type of video player is this ???? Totally annoying !!!!

I downloaded and installed some Opera Mini to a tablet, but due to some difficulties along the way I'm not sure which version it is. Is there a way to like "right-click" on that to see "version"?

Well, presuming it's latest (26), there was a site rendering issue. mosreg.ru is displayed fine in every other browser but this Opera Mini: e.g., there are two bunches of rectangular buttons somewhere in the middle by height, the right one being "uslugi"/"services" (which is the point I visit there) -- so out of like a dozen+ only one or two are present at all (I tried reopening, clicking "places" around, scrolling-searching if they're "moved" somewhere in the page - didn't find it).

                                                            Settings in tablet?

                                                            Or in Opera Mini settings.

Such question doesn't exactly belongs to Opera Mini 26 thread. Answering your question: the same way as before, by enabling the data savings and the ad-blocker inside it.

Nope. However if the page is loading without any action from your side then something may be wrong with your phone.

                                                                Settings in tablet?

There too, in Settings > Apps. Select Opera Mini and you should be able to see the installed version. Or in Opera Mini settings.

Apologies. Unless that version number differs from-- whatever. (Thing is, I'm in hospital - I use the tablet (free WiFi), home - the comp.) It said like 20.etc.. Can't remember which way I downloaded it now, only that I didn't seem to pick the version manually. Anyway I'm to start a thread of my own then, aren't I? (Gosh, it's so jammed!) Checking now again, version 20.0.2254.110284, if I've made it out correctly (font small).

Opera Mini's "Media Streaming" feature is totally awful. It's too bad to use. Video loads too slowly. Videos can't able to play instantly after clicking Play button. It takes too much time to play any video for streaming. Moreover, if I swipe forward the playing it takes hell lot of time to play after rewind. And there has no video loading percentage showing when video is loading. If there has loaded video percentage showing as like UC Browser like this picture from UC http://goo.gl/VAieEQ & like this picture http://goo.gl/xE6W6i then we can able to guess that how long I've wait to see the video playing completely.

And for Audio streaming, Opera Mini has a poor built in audio player. Audio's can't be rewind forward or backward. I don't wanna listen the whole audio file. If a audio file is 8 minutes long & if I've to listen after from 4 minutes duration, there has no way to do this. Opera Mini sucks at web media streaming.

Now UC Browser upgraded its rendering engine from U3 Kernel to U4 kernel for better rendering, better streaming & in the meantime Opera Mini relys on Presto engine version 2.12.423 which is pretty old.

There has a time when UC Browser sucks & Opera Mini Rocks. But now UC Rocks and poor Opera Mini Sucks as well. Thumbs Down. Boooooooo !!!!!!

I am wondering how one can download their bookmark/favorites folder in a format like .cvs ?? Am constantly switching between installed android browsers; regular downloading of bookmarks, merging the various files to create a 'master bookmark' that can be uploaded into each installed android browser is a feature that would be available in a "perfect 21st Century planet."
