@sorenfeodor thanks! I managed to somehow export the repository address to a separate location and comment out the source (server where it indicates to download from) which fixed the issue.
@blythe "ctrl+shift+x" I think, there isn't shortcut like this. but your case, must be true. I think, at least they must add "reset settings default" to "easy setup" (settings located right above browser)
@ddavee78 I just checked after you posted this out of curiosity and video is now working in things like Facebook... I wasn't aware of any more Opera updates, I did install Vivaldi but that didn't work initially and haven't copied any codecs etc so not sure why Opera's working now....
So all good but a bit of a hassle when it breaks like this occasionally.
@spiritwind I'm using the Chromium-based ffmpeg.so to get videos working seamlessly, just not the video previews. I'll try grabbing the github version and trying that to see if it works for my problem.
No idea what is causing it, but sometimes when starting the browser an "Extension: History Panel" task would keep taking up memory until it freezes and crashes Opera. You can just end the task and move on with everything working fine but it's incredibly annoying to do every time it happens.
Screenshot of the task taking 2 GB of memory
Same problem here. Extension: History Panel consuming 6GB of memory.
As a onehundredeyed, I disabled the history on side panel and works.
Update: Opera One (version: 107.0.5045.21)
Chromium version: 121.0.6167.160
I think this was fixed already with the latest update (today). At least i can't reproduce same issue on YouTube anymore by pressing page buttons or a video, new window of Opera doesn't pop-up anymore.
I'll let you know if similar issue\problem will happen again.
@pegasisworks Same. I had to keep patching it too because Spotify stopped working with each update, and now this. I just went back to my previous browser, is not worth the headache. Each update just makes the experience worst, at least on Linux, but at this point I'm not going to bother using it on other platforms
@kohlhaas
I too have been getting this for at least a month now. I have cut the few extensions down to BitWarden and the Opera ad blocker and wallet both of which I prefer to have disabled. Setting them to enabled makes no difference. Similarly, setting the Zotero extension to disabled doesn't remove this relentless prompt. Would be nice to have this fixed!
