Spam filter (by time)

You have posted 2 times within 120 seconds. A spam block is now in effect on your account. You must wait at least 600 seconds before attempting to post again.
It may be ok for main sections - but LOUNGE?Could we have a little arrangement so that in the Lounge we had a less severe filtering?
Bots can handle several posts in 15 seconds. O'k, let it be 20-30 seconds for the Lounge. ?
At least if you wouldn't or can't, the temp.blocking could be twice (or thrice?) less. -

Unfortunately we have to have pretty strict measures in place to limit the amount of spam on the forums. If we ease the restrictions in the Lounge section, it's a pretty safe bet that the Lounge section would see an increased amount of spam.

Let's see.
On one hand - slight increase in the section dedicated to banter? Myself personally wouldn't mind much - if - on the other hand - we increase the amount of participation.
If such an amendment is possible, I would like to hear from others - what do they think about the choice? -

Relax for a moment anywhere along the dike, and the smallest hole will quickly become a torrent. The moment the spammers find the filtering/mod'ing is relaxed in any way in a forum, they'll flood it. They're constantly testing and teasing at the boundaries... and as soon as they find any kind of opening, they'll crowd through.

What if to implement the harder filtering only to the freshest newbies?
Even make it harder? More than 2 posts in 3 - not 2? And the subsequent block - for 15 not 10?
While for much more mature users the filtering could get lighter? As I said - 60 (or even 30) instead of 120, then 5 instead of 10? To make it gradual?
It is possible - isn't it?
If not only for the lounge - 3 posts instead of 2? Huh? -

Even make it harder? ...That idea has merit, at least insofar as some of the more spam-free forums exercise something similar. The key is to spread it out over both time and posting count... and the posts have to be relevant to the forum, not just gibberish or copied text from other posters. That, in turn, requires continual forum vigilance by users/mods to report and weed out any such nonsense of spammers trying to create a legitimate 'reputation'. Basically, it builds and monitors a database on new members until they've proven themselves by various criteria. Unfortunately ideas with merit also are ideas that generally have costs attached - cost, time, creativity, and coding/maintenance manpower in most cases. Whether Opera is willing or able to make such choices is, of course, up to them and their economics.

You guys are making UNNECESSARY "improvements"!
While THE EASIEST thing that needs to do is IMPLEMENT DEPENDENT filtering!!!
What stops spammers from making two posts in 2 minutes, wait 10 - and make another 2? Right - somebody block them within that 10 minutes? O'k, let that be. FOR THOSE WHO CRACK JUST REGISTERED!!!
WHY IN THE DAMNED REALM OF POOP I SHOULD BE CONSTRAINED IN SUCH A WAY!!!

What!!?First you should understand that this is not an spam blocker but a flood blocker. The goal of this setting is to avoid people posting those (usually unnecessary) two/three words comments that don't bring anything useful and serves only for increasing post counting.

And what a setting to avoid massive posting would be?
A moderator!!!
While I'm a member since 1815 - Before Christ Sake, Gosh! And had 1.000 million trillion posts etc. on MyOpera, I - along with many others - can be spared from that frequency abomination!
Well, I'll tell you how I use the forum.
I take a look and reload the "Overview" page time to time. If something's new, I go there, and I reply till something's resolved or like that.
I don't reply just because I have internet and keyboard!
So I come, make my 2, or 5, or 20. Then I don't post.
WHAT!!? -

SPEED!!? What do you call "speed"???
Initially, I was talking about the Lounge! You know, my interenet connection loads pages ok!!!
And I f^ck*** don't need to spend HOURS to answer 5 questions in the Lounge!!! Nobody needs!!! Everybody has their own lives! And they have a good connection to get done with "the current chatting" in 5 minutes! When you're able to be done in 5-15 minutes -- who are you to command me to waste my NERVES and LOADS of time - making a friendly discussion a REAL DANGER of getting an ulcer and breaking the keyboard in vain trying to get without F*** words?I'm a very friendly person usually.
You want what??? USING ***ING UNNECESSARY **IT make me get sick AND banned!!?
Come on!!! -

5 in 5 is TOO MANY???Yes, it may be. And could you please behave like a capable adult human being? Acting like a child whose toy had been taken won't help you.
I don't think that things will change in a near future, so you will have to get used to it.
