@zalex108 Thanks for the information. Is "Sync" something that's enabled by default? If not, I'm not using "Sync" at all. I made a backup of my profile, saved only TWO passwords, that I entered manually, and neither password had been retained. So, I closed Opera and re-opened it and then the saved passwords were available. I also noticed Opera had been upgraded to version 64.0.3417.47. Weird.

I'll come up with 'plan B'. Thanks again for your help!

So, after reporting the issue with Opera 62.0.3331.18, I've learned this password corruption issue tends to happen with some Opera upgrades. For example, I'll re-enter a previously corrupt password and everything will be fine. Then, Linux Mint will inform me of an Opera update. I'll install the update and then discover I can't login to various sites, even after having previously entered a corrected password for a password that got corrupted before.

Is anyone else having issues with Opera updates causing password corruption?

Assuming that it is not a hardware failure, possibly the ram or the hdd, then opera's profile is probably corrupt. Backup your favorites, delete ~/.config/opera and start fresh.

Hi! This morning when I opened Opera, the window opened and the background image loaded but none of the speed dial boxes/icons appeared, nor did the search bar appear. So, I closed Opera and re-opened it. Then, the speed dial appeared as it normally does. Then, I tried logging in to Hotmail to check email and found my stored password didn't work. Everything worked yesterday, so I know the stored password was good.

After doing some investigation, I found all of my stored passwords are corrupt. They all start with "v11" and appear to have Unicode characters in them (I see a black diamond with a question mark in the middle).

The usernames appear to be fine as are the URLs for each account.

Any ideas on how my passwords could have gotten trashed like this?

Could you provide more information? Opera supports HTML5 on Linux wonderfully. Could you post a link to a HTML5 you're having problems with?

Thanks! I just made that configuration change. We'll see how things go.

I'm running Opera 52 (64-bit) on Linux Mint 18.3 (64-bit) and I've noticed, sometimes the opera processes won't always exit after I've closed the browser. I usually reboot the system to correct the problem. I've tried killing individual processes and sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't.

I see this has also been reported for Opera for Windows:

Does anyone know why this happens? When I try to start Opera, after this problem occurs, I get a message stating my profile couldn't be opened.

I'm running Linux Mint on a Lenovo laptop with 8GB of RAM. The system rarely uses any swap space, so lack of memory isn't an issue.

I clicked the "offline package" link and it started an automatic download. At least, that's what it did for Linux (I'm on my Linux box right now).

Hi! The other day, I noticed Opera was updated to the latest version on my mom's Ubuntu 14.04 system. I took it for a spin and was checking out the builtin ad blocker. neat.

I went to some sites I maintain and Opera reported blocking some ads, even though there were no ads on the sites. So, I did some reasearch, opened up the Developer console and saw the Google Analytics script was being blocked as an "ad". I looked in the default ad blocker settings and "*.google.com" (I believe) was listed a domain to not block.

Any ideas on why the Google Analytics script would be blocked as an ad?

Hi! It's been a while since I've posted here. Today, I went to upgrade Opera on my ancient Windows XP system and Opera 36 reported it was up to date. On my mom's Linux system, I believe version 37 or 38 is running. So, I went to the Opera site to see what's up with the latest version of Opera that can run on Windows XP. I quickly discovered the system requirements are basically excluded from the primary site navigation. I had to run a Google search to find the system requirements page.

My question: why effectively "hide" the system requirements? Sure, they might not be read frequently but at least keep a link to the page in the main site navigation, say at the bottom of the page with the plethora of other links.

Maybe I'm just an old geezer...
