The Linux community has long been asking Opera to support the h.264 codec in Opera Browser for Linux.

We know that h.264 is a proprietary format. However, Firefox browser worked around this problem, it uses the codec x264 (free and open-source software library which uses GNU General Public License and it is developed by VideoLAN)

The x264 codec allows browsers to support h.264 codec videos.

For my Opera browser to support h.264, I need to open the terminal and type this command with each new Opera browser update:

But less experienced users don't even know there is this option, they simply can't watch videos on Facebook.com, Twitter.com and Youtube.com Live videos, as they rely on the h.264 codec

That's why Opera Browser needs to support the h.264 codec or at least x264 codec (which will not generate license costs for Opera and will once and for all solve this problem that only affects Opera Browser on Linux since Google Chrome and Firefox have been supporting the h.264 codec for a long time, even indirectly via the x264 codec)

I have Lubuntu 18.04.3 LTS (based on Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS) 64bits and Linux 4.15.0-58 kernel

Opera developers, please support extensions on Opera Android browser (as Firefox android browser already supports).

Many useful extensions that we, users, use on the desktop, could be used on the mobile.

For example: I use uBlock Origin to access news websites with paywall (on opera desktop). The default adblocker for the Opera android app is not enough for websites with paywall.

Other example: I use SaveFrom.net extension to download video and music from YouTube.com and other websites on Opera desktop. I cannot use it in Opera android browser.

So please support Opera extensions on Opera android browser.

Important 1: always acess https://github.com/iteufel/nwjs-ffmpeg-prebuilt/releases/ in your browser to see the most recent version. Today it is the version 0.45.1 - in the future, you will have to change "0.45.1" in all command to the new version.

Important 2: Save these command in a doc page or something else. Every new Opera browser version you will have to do it again in the terminal. Example: Updating from Opera 67 to 68. Normally when you update from Opera 67 to a new opera 67 version, you will not have to do this command again (sometimes yes). But from 67 to 68. Or 68 to 69 always.
You can acess html5test.com and look for "H.264 support". If you see "yes" next to it. The command is working. If not, you will need to do it again.

Important 3: After doing this command, you will need to close and open again the Opera browser to see everything works.

Important 4: Do the first command, press ENTER. Do the second, press ENTER.... Do not try to copy and paste the 5 commands at the same time. I know that you know that, but I am just saying

Please support the synchronization of passwords between Opera Desktop and Opera Mini (as well as Opera Android browser's password synchronization feature).

   Opera Mini completely violates this rule of Google’s Policy.    Yes, it only shows the “Lock screen news” option when the user starts using the app, so Opera Mini has collected few data about him. After a few days using the app, the “Lock screen news” option will simply disappear. (obviously for the option to come back, so I would be able to take out the printscreen, I deleted the data + app cache from Opera Mini, so the lock screen option came back, as if I were a new user).

The problem is that Opera Software does not make it clear to its users that their data is being sent, unencrypted, to China. Only it says that it is a Norwegian company (So theoretically the data are safe by the European laws and in European territory)

Yes, this is serious and this app (Opera mini) has several reasons to be removed immediately from Playstore.

Hello, I am an Opera user from Android and Desktop (Ubuntu).
I always use the Reader mode feature in Android browser, but unfortunately Opera desktop browser does not have this feature until now. So please add it.

But it is not something that we can control, right?

For example: I like to watch videos from Facebook.com newsfeed and Twitter.com newsfeed. Facebook and Twitter use H.264 and not VP8/VP9. So our browser must support it.

And Yes, every opera update, you should do this process.
But sometimes not.

For example. I did it when it was installed on my PC Opera 62. Then I have updated this week to 63 and today I updated it again to a new version of 63.
H.264 is still being supported and I did it only once when I had Opera 62.

I know this is not the ideal option (Google Chrome and Firefox for Ubuntu support H.264 natively), but it is what we have for today.

And we can't force the biggest sites in the world to migrate to VP8 / VP9.
