@leocg Before I used Chrome, but no passwords have been saved in there.
As said, the user id and password were last used way back in 2013 and I bought a new pc in 2015, i.e. I started off with a clean system.
I removed the 'web data' (see above) and tried a few times.
The below, that I got before, is now gone, i.e. no drop down with 'suggestions' anymore.
BTW: passwords (Settings->Advanced->Autofill) are controlled by Roboform, but Roboform usually shows a pop-up with an option to either only Fill or Fill & Submit.
That wasn't the case here.
Anyway, whilst the puzzle as such isn't solved, the problem is...
Thank you for the tip!
Yes, system date is correct.
However, I checked and found that the application that I was using (indexing tool) was/is wrong. Probably a bug. In Explorer cache files show today's date.
Apologies for the confusion. I should have checked (using Explorer ) first. Am very sorry.
Suggest, if possible, to delete this thread.
Thanks a lot.
As said (my last line), there may be extensions that can do this.
This requires me to find and check out those extensions, see whether they are reliable in a sense that they have a good rating from a somewhat larger group of users, etc.
Whereas I prefer a native solution. Hence my posting here.
But, then again, I am not sure whether this section here is being read by anyone from Opera...
p.s. if an extension is the only to go at present, then there is another extension may be "Vanilla Cookie Manager" (rated 4,5* by 48,000 users)
@mopw69 maybe such "miracles" happen through a virtual machine. But you do not have to combine it. Just install the developer version on a pendrive or HDD/SSD as portable. Only, of course, indicate a different location than installing your stable Opera.
