@zauberfritz Yeah I don't seem to think it's just an Opera problem I think it is an Chromium issue as it also has the same white page flash in Vivaldi aswell and I've had it happen in Edge chromium aswell

RE: Change Search Engine in Speed dial.Opera for Windows
@leocg then if you don't know why did you write a faq about it
leocg MODERATOR Dec 1, 2018, 2:48 PM
How to change the search engine in start pageYou can't change it but you can hide it in settings.
shouldn't you as a moderator on Opera's forums know this sort of thing for a fact

RE: Change Search Engine in Speed dial.Opera for Windows
@sgunhouse but I don't wish to use either Yandex or Google I'd like to use a search provider who doesn't feel the need to keep a record of everywhere I go and everything I search for like DuckDuckGo

RE: Change Search Engine in Speed dial.Opera for Windows
@burnout426 yeah that's why I'm now going to get rid of Opera and install Vivaldi as they'll let me do it I don't like google never have and I prefer a search engine that does keep a record of everything I look up

RE: For the love of God, please make it so that I can choose my own default search engine!Suggestions and feature requests
Pretty much if you like how Opera does things but want to be able to change you default search engine in the speed dial page then perhaps you might like to use Vivaldi as apparently they'll let you do it without a problem

RE: Change Search Engine in Speed dial.Opera for Windows
@leocg Now we both know that that is a crock of pig fat if Vivaldi can do it so can Opera what you really should be telling people on here is that the Opera dev team are just to lazy to implement it and more people who want this should be complaining to the Devs and asking for it to happen as it's really nothing to do with using Chromium it's just lazy devs

RE: White screen 'flashbang' when opening pagesOpera for Windows
@STRONK all good maybe it's something the Devs need to look at there is a suggestion thread in these forums you could always ask for dark page on wait while a site opens
- Opera for Windows
-
RE: White screen 'flashbang' when opening pagesOpera for Windows
@STRONK which pages do this all of them or only some of them
1: If it's all of them then you either have a slow internet connection or a low end PC
the fix upgrade your PC2: If it's only some of them then its a slow server the page is served from.
So nothing Opera can do about it -
RE: The "frontpage" search engine is always GoogleOpera for Windows
@leocg It can be changed it's just that Opera devs can't be arsed doing it or making an option to allow us to do it
-
RE: this video format is not supported by your browser to watch use google chromeOpera for Windows
Pretty much what you're wanting to do is download K-Lite codec pack and install it
-
RE: Reduce memory eating?Opera for Windows
@leocg 13 processes at 660MB in a clean browser is a little over the top mine only does 8 an ~350MB

RE: Speed Dial Sync Fixed Yet?Opera for Windows
@leocg well duh no kidding I already knew that but then to make that speed dial the default you have to jump through a whole lot of hoops and even then it doesn't always work the last time I accidentally removed my speed dial while pruning my bookmarks of sites no longer working it took me forever to get my speed dial back to working order there should be an easier way to do it like right click set as default
-
RE: Speed Dial Sync Fixed Yet?Opera for Windows
@leocg What do you mean by it's not a bug to be fixed
If sync doesn't synchronise Opera on multiple machines logged into the same sync account then how else are you meant to recreate speed dial, book marks etc etc etc
-
Opera sync not restoring my Speed dialOpera for Windows
And when I right click on an older speed dial the add to speed dial is greyed out I can't drag and drop as it just creates a bookmarks.html bookmark ahhhh very frustrating

RE: [Solved]resize Speed dial iconsOpera for Windows
If neither mine nor Leogc's fixes work then you need to look at your Windows DPI settings

RE: [Solved]Opera stuttering and occasionally freezes while playing YouTube videosOpera for Windows
if it says it's installed C:\Program Files then it X64 or 64 bit
if it says it's installed in C:\Program Files (x86) then it's x86 or 32 bit -
When is an Extension not an ExtensionOpera for Windows
Why is it that some Extensions are not listed on the extension page but show up in the task manager as for instants
Extension: Opera Touch Background (Also could someone please explain what this actually does as ending the process doesn't seem to effect anything)
Extension: Video Handler
Extension: Background WorkerThese are apparently Extensions but none of them show in the extension page

RE: [Solved]resize Speed dial iconsOpera for Windows
or you could go here opera://flags/#default-tile-width and here opera://flags/#default-tile-height
and change those without touching the page zoom

RE: Speed dial tiles disappearingOpera for Windows
This always seemed to happen with the Deviant Art speed dial but I think it had something to do with the server they used for graphics on their page now that I made a new dial it shows up consistently now. So if I were you I'd try making a new dial and see if that helps
