If Opera can't find favicon for some URL, it will search for it online <a href="http://www.dropmocks.com/mIwmrX" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc">(and leave empty space)</a>. It's the same in Opera bookmarks manager.<br />
This creates noticeable delay compared to other favicons loaded from cache, and if site really doesn't have favicon, Opera will give default one.<br />
Why not initially put default one , and then search for it online.<br />
If Opera finds favicon for specific page, it can silently replace it, if not, nothing changes...</p>
<p dir="auto">Also, it searches for those favicons every time, and there are many sites that don't have it.</p>
