<![CDATA[Restart/resume of a download]]>Before going lazy, Opera was bad-internet friendly and smart. Restart/resume of downloads after disconnect worked fine - simply requesting the file from the point you got disconnected at (if it's supported). Blink is being retarded at that part. Here restart means not a continuation but a new download. From the start. And not just start but with dumbest method avalible - requesting the file again without keeping the previous filename. So if I get disconnected while downloading file into "what-I-typed-here.txt" and restarted it due to disconnect, I'll get "screw-whatever-you-typed-there.html". When I restart from popup window - it opens a new one with the direct link. So with Opera it is impossible to download big files via unstable connection. Cuz it's dumb now. And I did posted about it on blogs. Like 3 months ago.

Dunno about you, guys, but this crap looks retarded to me.

Btw, can anyone explain what current Opera developers do? I mean usefull stuff, not the "some dude screwed up at line X of file Z, so we wasted 2 months fixing it and it still doesnt work" and "bookmarks? we can now see user's stupid faces via webcams without any 3rd party software! screw bookmarks!" some bugtracker was full of. Even this site is full of bugs.

There's an option regarding this on opera:flags.
But it doesn't work with stopped downloads, no matter is they are stopped by error or a user. Only restart is avalible at that point.

What you should do to make extension be more logical:
Remove "Initial Setup" completly. Redesign rules page to have a single table. Keep it working as it is, so it would end up creating sub-dirs inside default downloads directory, when rule is fired, and not changing anything if it did not. This way extension would not rise questions like "why so many rules appeared?" and "why do I need to jerk around with my default downloads dir settings?". And do not force "Save as" dir folder to the default one if rules aren't fired. Keep the last one. Or make the default last order rule "type * to dir /".

That's what I think your extension should work like. Otherwise it's just a bad workaround for Chrome's stupidity (security obsession) that might confuse user and end up being unused properly.

As stated in the extension itself, absolute paths are impossible. I'm trying to work around Chromium's limitations here...
I'll investigate the issue of the Pictures-folder being created in the wrong place. Can you tell me the settings you used? (Especially Opera's default download folder, the content of the field in Step 2 of the extensions and your rules)

PS: If you'd comment at my blog, it would make things a lot easier for me.

I wanted it to store pics into D:\Pictures and all other stuff into D:\Downloads. First it told me I should make default dir to "D:" cuz it contains both said dirs (why can't one use absolute paths?), then for some reason it started making Pictures dir in Downloads one. It also adds rules for sites on its own. Why?

This extension gives more trouble, than it solves, while the idea is good.

That's a Chromium-thing.
But Opera intends to improve download handling. It's already on their to-do-list. As a first step, Opera 20 has got support for chrome.downloads-API, which will open up a variety of improvements via extensions: e.g. have a look at Download Control

Download resumption and other stuff will arrive eventually in future versions. So hang tight 😉
