Its mainly a memory thing. This deal is though, the new Opera wouldn't really benefit from it much now anyway. Because the new renderer allows each tab, extension and plug-in to use its own process it already has access to what is functionally unlimited memory (up to whatever your system max is of course). Unless you have a <em>single process</em> using 3.5+ gigabyes of RAM you will probably never run into the 32 bit limit.</p>

Sadly at the moment the new Opera in Windows is 32 bit only, as you say.<br />
There is a bit of a debate about how useful 64 bit is in this instance. Yes it would be able to access more memory, and may be a bit more stable, but there don't seem to be many other huge advantages.<br />
