After several beta releases, we finally released Opera Mini 8 for Android earlier today. As a way of celebrating this release, we’re also releasing a brand-new beta of Opera Mini 9 today, with some new features for you to play with.

In this beta, we are introducing night mode, a commonly requested feature. Night mode in Opera Mini for Android is not just a simple on/off switch, it can also be configured to reduce eye strain when browsing in dark environments. You can enable this feature from the Settings menu.

For those of you who are using synchronization, I am happy to announce that we are now also syncing open tabs.

As always, thank you for being a part of our beta testing. Please leave a comment with any feedback you have for us.

You can get the Opera Mini for Android beta here: http://opr.as/e1x

Enjoy!

I think opera mini need to have user agent option like opera mobile. because many site's mobile view incorporate popup ads thus opera mini would only load the ads page and make it impossible to open the desired page while the desktop view don't.

some sites with mouse over menu also make things worse, like in dailymail.

I just thought that we might be getting a higher luck at opening sites on opera mini if we got a desktop view option.

besides, we can live with desktop view only sites on opera mini all this time already, can't we? and most of the time it performs better. please consider it.

the experts here can correct me if there are any mistakes. I am a nobody at this.

at least get things straighten up first, mainly with the package. I think users will not really keen on having many mini iterations on their device, like myself.

what about the good old mini 7? be mini classic?
because from what I understand the data would be incompatible for an update. and new package means importing lots of stuff minus losing feeds list and saved pages again.

speaking of saved pages, why don't you make a folder on sdcard specially for it? y'know, the one which didn't get erased along with uninstallation and could be imported locally.
and maybe also to store feeds list and cookies for us to manage it better.
As I haven't seen any Android browser let user manage stored cookies (I'd like to be able to delete specific site's cookie instead of wipe it clean), you should considering to bring those.
