When you request a page in Opera Mini, Opera servers get the page, compact it and send it to the phone so you can save up to 90% of data traffic.

Be aware, that's at the cost of web page compatibility, design fidelity, functionality, etc.

Opera Mini is not a full browser and it depends on Opera servers to get the pages.
