Redirect on intranet

I am using Opera on my work PC, which is connected to an intranet. On other browsers, there are many keywords I can type into the browser, and it will redirect me to the full url. For instance, I can type the word 'people' in the address bar, and it should redirect me to an internal webpage where I can search for other people in my company.
However, in Opera, anything I type in the combined address/ search bar goes to Google search. It does NOT redirect, like I want and expect it to. Anyone have a solution for this? FYI, I use an automatic configuration script to access the internet (outside of the intranet).

That is a Opera bug. You have to type unnessesary characters.
Opera does not recognize local/intranet domains.
