Hello Opera Team,

I’m writing to highlight a practical issue with notification sounds in Opera that can impact real-world business operations.

In many restaurants (including ours), web-based platforms like Swiggy and Zomato are used in browser tabs to receive incoming orders. Staff are often multitasking and not dedicated solely to monitoring these tabs.

The problem is that different tabs produce notification sounds at very different volume levels. Some alerts are loud, while others are quite soft. Since Opera only allows volume control at the overall browser/system level, we have to keep volume low enough to avoid loud alerts being disruptive—but this makes softer notifications easy to miss.

In a restaurant environment, this can lead to delayed order acceptance, slower service, and a poor customer experience.

It would be extremely helpful if Opera could introduce:

Per-tab or per-site volume control
An in-browser audio mixer
Option to normalize or boost notification sounds for specific sites
These improvements would make Opera much more practical for business use cases where timely notifications are critical.

Thank you for considering this feedback.

Best regards,
Mayur Naik

They usually increase the volume for all tabs together or just boost already loud sounds even more, which makes things worse.
The issue isn’t overall volume—it’s the difference between tabs. Some notifications are already loud, while others are too soft. Boosters can’t balance that, they just amplify everything.
What’s actually needed is per-tab or per-site volume control so important alerts (like orders) can be set louder without making everything else unbearable.
