I’ve been using Pinboards for a while and really like the idea — it’s clean and useful. But one big thing I miss compared to Chrome’s Web Highlights extension is contextual recall.

With Web Highlights, when I revisit a page I’ve annotated before (say a Wikipedia or IMDb page), it automatically shows my old notes and highlights. That’s super handy for research or tracking sources.

Right now, Pinboards feel more like a web version of OneNote — everything’s stored in one place, but I have to search manually when I want to revisit a topic.

It’d be amazing if Pinboards could link notes to specific URLs and show them automatically when I return to that page. That small change would make Pinboards an actual research companion, not just a note gallery.
