Previous Opera versions allowed this. In Opera 28 java plugin is enabled, but java seems to need additional permission in order to operate. I have updated java to most current version. Still I need to grant permission. How? Why?

I'm using Opera 28.0 on Win 8.1. I cannot run java apps in this browser. This is preventing me from setting this browser as default because many of the sites I visit require Java.
I have installed the Java jre 1.8.0_40 but Java still doesn't appear in opera://plugins. I'd surly like to fix this.

Have you installed both 32 and 64 bits Java? For Opera you will need the 32 bits one.

Also, are plugins enabled in Opera?

I am having the same issue, but my java is enabled in setting and no option to install or update it.

Your problem is with java or with javascript? They are completely different things.

You enable or disable java at opera:plugins and not on settings.

and a blank page. This indicates to me that java isn't being allowed to load even thought the java plugin is enabled.
