Checking for updates...</p>
<p dir="auto">I can't update and keep getting the same message that it's checking for updates. Multiple reboots didn't help. I even installed it on a different partition, but the system drive didn't work. A fresh download and installation of Opera didn't help either. It's strange because Opera for Gamers has the same problem.</p>

<li>Uninstall Opera. Make sure to <strong>not</strong> remove your data</li>
<li>Go to the installation directory and remove all content in it</li>
<li>Install Opera</li>
<li>Try checking for updates again</li>

Open that folder in File Explorer. There should be a subfolder named Autoupdatr, that folder should include the file opera_autoupdate.exe (though Windows may hide the ".exe" part.)</p>
