opera://flags/
My bookmarks were gone because of tree-in-bookmarks flag, but Opera 27 still doesn't have that flag (I think)
maybe some other flag is messing with your bookmarks

Have you ever saved/backed up your bookmarks into a different location?
I had an issue with my Opera once - lots of recent bookmarks disappeared.
Much later it came out that the browser retargetted the operative bookmarks file's location upon the upgrade, while before that, it used my backed up bookmarks file instead of that remaining in the proper folder.

Asterisks in path I showed you, replace with your windows logon name. Copy and paste entire path into windows orb button/run and it will take you right to it. I see there is a bug in posting this. There should be a back slash after "Users". Doesn't show in the post, but shows when in the editing area for this post. Strange!
