<![CDATA[My opera isn't opening]]>I've seen many other people have this issue with Opera not opening. But it seems like none of the solutions are working for me. To describe my situation, when I click on Opera it briefly flickers on the screen before closing. When I look in Task Manager and search "Opera", nothing pops up. It's as if something is blocking Opera from running. I've come to that conclusion because I've spent more than an hour trying and failing to get Opera to open by hopelessly reinstalling it. Someone help.

Relog, log out and log in again to MS accounts, family owner, family members - after above Solution^
Keep in mind that sometimes, users need to wait till change will be applied onto their systems (unfortunately)"

My brother has MS Family Safety turned on. For some reason it only started bugging him about Opera the same day my Opera decided it wasn't worth starting anymore. I just looked at the MS Family safety website and found I have zero limitations. It might just have been a coincidence. I'll have to keep looking to find my issue sadly.

If you're facing this issue but are unsure if you even have that stuff enabled, here are a couple things you can try:

Allow Opera One in MS Family Safety

  1. Go to https://familysafety.microsoft.com/ or open the Family Safety mobile app

  2. Select the user that's encountering this issue

  3. To allow other browsers;

    • Disable "Filter inappropriate websites" under the Edge tab OR;
    • Go to Windows tab --> Apps & Games --> Unblock Opera One

Try logging out of your MS Account on Windows & log back in

  1. Open the Windows menu (Windows key)
  2. Click on your profile on bottom left
  3. Sign out

Rename the Opera.exe to something else

  1. Find Opera.exe by right-clicking the shortcut on your desktop --> Open file location
  2. Rename it to something else like Opera1.exe
  3. Launch it

You can then try renaming it back to opera.exe - we’ve seen one case of this process fixing the issue where renaming it back didn’t break it
