<![CDATA[Why can opera not import its own bookmarks?!]]>I had a disk corruption. I have a fresh install of windows. Fresh install of Opera. Why is it so hard to get my bookmarks back? I found the file on the old disk d:\users\peter\appdata\roaming\opera software\opera stable\bookmarks but when I copy it to the same location on c:, opera still sees no bookmarks.

And seriously? When I try to import, it can only import from other browsers and not it's own file?!

There was a reason I didn't want to which I now can't remember. I think I didn't want to overwrite what I'd created, and merge them. Seems very weird it can't understand it's own bookmarks on import.

And if you have a backup, you can just replace the files in the proper directory.

People reinstall all the time. You need to import form a backup. It's like an Englishman understanding French and German, but not English!

Thanks for the tip, using the HTML conversion definitely makes the import smoother. Did you notice if this behavior change happened after a specific Opera update?

i think you have to copy the bookmarks file to
"Default" folder.

With Opera closed, you ought to be able to just overwrite the new file with the old one.
