Simply because whoever is managing the social media page has 'announced' that they are 'making an update' that is, by their words, intending on erasing any traces of a particular user.

OperaGX wants to censor Grummz.

Explain to me how this is supposed to be beneficial to the web browser. When did OperaGX become the web browser endorsing and advocating for Censorship?

If this is merely the workings of a rogue employee managing the social media page, please correct the issue. If this is the official stance of the team as a whole, then I will seek out another web browser, and inform all I know to switch browsers as well.

Please resolve this, before permanent damage is done. The people this kind of post caters to will not use your product anyways.

And I do apologize if it came out that way. Just trying to get answers because scrolling through the post in question only shows that they're taking a blatant side in all of this. Neither of you deserve that hostility, but I had hopes that they'd step up and own their poorly-timed mistake.

However, my stance will still stand here- this was a mistake they made, and they'll have to deal with the consequences for it. If it was hacking, they're continuing on without addressing it.

Which is why I've come to the decision to pull out of Opera entirely. Archive this or delete it- do what you will, but this will very likely be my last posting here.

Best of luck, to the both of you.

Many users choose browsers based on trust, and such decisions can impact user loyalty.

On a different note, just like how students convert SGPA to percentage for clarity in academics, companies must communicate their policies clearly to maintain trust. If this was a mistake or a rogue social media post, OperaGX should clarify it before losing long-time users.

If they are officially endorsing this stance, users have every right to switch to a browser that aligns with their values. Hopefully, OperaGX addresses this matter soon.

Neither Leo nor I actually represent Opera and thus can't officially say what their media posts mean. You'd have to see what they actually said about it. But given their history, I'd go for the early April Fool's joke theory as most likely, followed by bad taste.

Specifically targeting Grummz?
Especially after it's been confirmed that those who are against him are organizing campaigns to the point of breaking the law to doxing and using the dark web to steal his login info.

Talk about piss-poor timing, or someone behind this posting did it with malicious intent.

So which is it? Badly timed Fools joke or someone going rogue? Because the alternative is that Opera is taking a side instead of staying neutral.

Last I checked, the end of March is not the first of April.

If it was supposed to have been a Fools post, then whoever was supposed to time it did so poorly.
