Highlights

Today’s most visual updates are related to tabs. It is now possible to access your recently visited tabs from other devices (using sync technology) and we have also added sound notification to the tab favicon.

Sync open tabs between devices

As the next logical step in syncing, the recent tabs list now includes your other devices. You can just click an entry from another of your computers. Great for picking up where you left off, without the need to bookmark a page.

On Windows and Linux (non Unity) it is accessible via “Opera menu → Recent tabs“.

On Mac and Linux (Unity) you can find the list under “History → Recent tabs“.

Sound notification icon on tabs

Videos and sound are ever more common on the internet. Although this is generally a good thing, sometimes it can be annoying, especially if one of your background tabs is playing something your don’t want to hear. Via a small animation over the favicon, you can now quickly locate any tab that is making a noise.

Additionaly, the Chromium has been updated to version 42.0.2287.0.

If the Dev. Version 29.0.1795.21 on the FTP Server at the wrong place?
That is the beta section?

I also can not update Opera.

The version showed in your picture is the beta version, that is right.

  1. The Close button at the top right seldom works, always have to use the drop down menu EXIT.

  2. When is Opera going to get SKINs, not themes but SKINS?

  3. Regarding Speed Dial, really like the favicon's with site names much better than site image.

Over the past three weeks I have used virtually every old and new browser out there looking for the one that just clicks (I miss my Neoplanet)
and Opera Developer is the one I keep coming back to because it is so intuitive and just works.

/Applications/Opera\ Developer.app/Contents/MacOS/Opera --disable-extensions

or type the command, as below (this should also work):

open -a "Opera Developer.app" --args --disable-extensions

Alternatively, to make it more convenient in use, you can create a simple script - in AppleScript, paste the following text:

do shell script "/Applications/Opera\ Developer.app/Contents/MacOS/Opera --disable-extensions"

Save it as an application, and add it to your startup items.

Every time I click an extension, or even try to delete one, Opera freezes. I tried removing the extensions in /Application Support (on Mac), but the behavior remains the same.

Only with opera-developer --no-sandbox can I run Opera. Chrome 42 Beta and Chrome 43 Dev run without problems.

Because the new start page is an experiment and developer builds are for them to experiment new and/or different features and see how people react to those features, changes and so on.

My Opera was auto-updated today to version 29.0.1795.0.

I am wondering why do they changed the start page again to the other start page, we had already once in December 2014 (cf. https://forums.opera.com/post/62091)?!

I could get back the start page, I was used to, by disable "Experimental start page" in opera://flags/.

But I don't understand why developers are switching all the time the settings of this poor start page...
