According to both StartPage and Ixquick, I am supposed be able to easily add their private search engines to Opera's list of other search engines.

That being said, I finding it very difficult to do so.

Here are the instructions for both StartPage and Ixquick, although the instructions are almost identical for either search engine.

https://www.startpage.com/eng/download-startpage-plugin.html?

https://www.ixquick.com/eng/download-ixquick-plugin.html?

Now, I have read, within Opera forum, that Opera had undergone some kind some kind of malware attack; and, because of this attack, Opera had decided not to allow the addition of other search engines for a period of time. Are we now beyond that period of time? If we are, then I suspect the problem is with me, and I could use some help installing StartPage or Ixquick. If we're not, then I'll just continue to use DuckDuckGo as my default search engine. My workaround will be to continue to use StartPage and Ixquick from Opera's default start page.

Thank you,

So do I, but my understanding is that it's not currently possible. I've just got used to typing sp. --stefl

From what I know now, you could even simplify the sp to one letter --say like using an s for Startpage or an x for Ixquick.

These search engines work now within Opera!

Name: StartPage

Keyword: sp

Address: https://startpage.com/do/search?query=%s&cat=web&language=english

After adding this search engine to Opera, you can search with it by placing an sp [space] and then your search term.

Ixquick, below works in the same manner.
