Now the browser has been updated to version 27 and that feature of toggling between the two interfaces is gone. I strongly dislike the current interface, and am wondering if I there is a way I could use it again. Also I want to know why they couldn't possibly include the toggle feature in the newest update. What's the harm in having it be available as an option?

I assumed the speed dial was reverted back as a result. It seems some people actually like it and want it to return. Maybe in future Opera shouldn't include experimental features in the stable release but should use Opera developer for this and perhaps use the blogs page to get user feedback. Trouble is, by playing around with the speed dial on the stable release, they've ended up with unavoidable negative feedback!

Having just returned from a week's holiday, I was horrified to find that the neat Speed Dial toggle option had disappeared. I thoroughly dislike the current messy over-detailed, hard-to-read, fussy layout and much prefer the simpler bold block option. Now I have to magnify the screen to decipher the Speed Icons! Not all changes are improvements and here is conclusive proof. Surely this is a retrograde step! I hope that Opera re-instal the toggle option or something similar very soon.

You obviously did not bother to read the post two places above yours, but instead, you effectively just added your name to a list.

People really should take time to read, they would be amazed how much they will or could find out, if they did actually bother.

Oh well, we can but hope.

his susgestion works for now. I am disappointed that Opera is abandoning this though I see it is suggstive of the Windows 8 interface (probably why I like it) so this may be for legal reasons.
