Great idea!
I've got the Take a Break reminder turned on, but to be honest I've yet to notice the Take a Break icon flashing. I'm not necessarily suggesting that it doesn't flash; only that I don't notice it.
Might I suggest adding an optional chime of some sort so that I don't have to be focused on the screen to know it's time for a break. And/or making the icon change color to red in addition to flashing.
In closing, I'm really anxious to see how Opera Air evolves. I've been playing with it for about a week and it's almost won me over to using it rather than Chrome.

Thanks for feedback and all suggestions. We're working on improving the reminders.
Can't say when exactly, but changes are coming. Keep an eye on the announcement section. https://forums.opera.com/category/72/news-announcements

The reminder feature is way too subtle. I don't notice it at all. I keep going back to setting to see if I had the reminder turn on or not. Maybe, have different options for the reminder.
1 - Maybe a subtle circle status icon that would give more detailed info. If I happen to glance at it & it's almost complete... I can take a break a little bit earlier. something like this.
2 - A more invasive reminder pop-up option.
3 - A little chime sound reminder

I really need something more intrusive to stop me in my tracks otherwise I will just continue using the computer. I only downloaded the browser today but enjoying it so far! Great idea to include the meditations that is what really drew me to this browser.

I've also had the Take a Break reminder turned on, but, just like you, I’ve never actually noticed the notification. In fact, I even thought the feature wasn’t working at all!

A subtle chime or a more noticeable color change (like turning red) would make a huge difference. It would help ensure that users actually see and benefit from the reminder instead of missing it entirely.

Also, totally with you on Opera Air—I've been testing it as well, and I’ve completely switched to it. It finally won me over! Excited to see how it evolves.
