Add bing as a search engine?

On the web page Opera was advertised as having Bing search built in. In settings there is yahoo, google, no bing.
I tried to enter the URL www.bing.com, that obviously is not what the software needs.
I need two browsers on my computer, an alternative to IE. I have repeatedly installed Opera over the years and now am frustrated. Why isn't this major search engine built right in, especially that it says it is.
I searched the knowledge base for "add search" "add bing", and the forums as well. There was one post that nobody replied to.
I have a very vague idea what "query" means, or POST, or whatever. I'm not a programmer and there is no search results in the help section. Help please.

Go to www.bing.com, right click on the search field and click on "create search engine". Change name and keyword if you want.

How can I make Bing the default search engine? Starting every search with "b " is tiresome.
Additionally, why was this search engine removed? I have had Bing as my default for as long as I've used Opera. I don't like that this option was taken away.

Currently you have to edit a file in one of your Opera folders to manage this. Its a kludge, yes, but thats all there is for now. The devs had stated that its going to be improved at some point but other features currently have higher priority. Yeah, it sucks, but the boards already filled with posts with people crying over that spilled milk.

Built in search engines are almost always sponsored in every web browser. Thats how these browser developers make money. If Bing was removed you can bet it was because Microsoft stopped playing the bills in one way or another.

@lando242 Thanks for the info. I was able to wedge Bing back into the default slot, but I assume it would go against the forum rules to outline exactly how that is done.

It's a little more than "spilled milk" to those of us who have to change our workflow when doing 20+ searches a day. But I do understand that Opera needs to keep the lights on, so I have submitted customer service tickets with Bing.

Its absolutely allowed. Where do you think I learned to do it? I just didn't know the exact location of the file off the top of my head. There are many very helpful threads on the forum that cover how to modify the web browser by editing its config files. Everything from changing the default search engines to editing the keyboard shortcuts.
