The default folder has about 1.21 GB of files. The Opera Stable directory minus the default folder, has about 226 MB in it. So...my question is this::

I have auto update disabled, and when a new version of Opera becomes available, I always copy the Opera and the Opera Stable folders to another location before I install the newest Opera over the current one. Are ALL of the files and folders (besides the default folder) needed when a new install is performed??

Thanks (sorry for being so long winded.

What are the SSDFP files?

Not really sure. I don't think I see any in my profile folders. Looking it up, I guess it stands for site-specific digital fingerprinting data, but couldn't really find more info than that.

Because we can find a LOT of those in both Opera Stable and Default folders. Just askin'

Is there a certain file or folder in the "Default" folder that's taking up most of that space? For example, is it the "File System" folder or the "IndexedDB" folder?

The roaming "Opera Stable" folder is your user data folder and the "Default" folder is your profile folder.

Stuff in the "Default" folder is for the specific profile you're using. Stuff in the root of the user data folder (the "Opera Stable" folder) is for files that are used by all profiles. Opera doesn't support creation of profiles via the UI, but Chromium does, so that's why it's set up like that. If you were to create another profile in Chrome, in addition to the "Default" folder, you'd have a "profile 2" folder for example.

With Opera One, if you have copies of things in the "Default" folder in the root of the "Opera Stable" folder, that's only because your profile is old and was migrated to the new layout a while ago. With a fresh "Opera Stable" folder, you won't have those duplicates. Opera shouldn't be using any of the duplicates in the root of the "Opera Stable" folder, so you should be able to remove them. You just might want to check the "Local State" file in JSONedit in tree mode to make sure "Default" is the set as profile [0] under root/profile and is set as the last used profile. You can check the "Local State" file of a test standalone installation to see what I mean.

The "Default" named folder is quite huge (some 1.4 GB or so) and contains replica named folders and files that also reside in its parent directory, Opera Stable.

Am I to assume ALL the files and folders in the Opera Stable directory except "Default" are also necessary (besides "Default") for Opera One to operate?

Am I making myself clear??

In the installation folder you can remove the folders named with the old versions numbers.
