<![CDATA[Unable to make Java run in Opera 19 on Windows]]>I'm using 64-bit Opera 19.0.1326.59 on Windows 8.1 64-bit and 7 64-bit. My Java version is Java 7 Update 51 (64-bit). When ever I go to Java.com and click on "Do I have Java" then "Verify Java version" a gray square saying "This plugin is not supported" is shown. I've searched around to see if the behavior in my specific case is documented anywhere but was unable to find any useful information. I've tried reinstalling both Opera and Java, and rebooting each time. Neither worked.

Are anyone else experiencing the same?
Does anyone know how to fix it?
If it's intentional, why?

Edit: After installing Chrome, and going to Java.com to test, I was prompted to install Java. The installation worked, and suddenly, it works in Opera as well now. I find this a less than ideal solution for Opera users. I would prefer if we didn't have to use other browsers to fix our plugins.

this is a regular ( windows 7 bug related ) problem after successful installation of Java ( jre ) and fresh installation of Windows7 64bit or 32bit on my laptop or desktop. what worked perfectly for me was setting COMPATIBILITYMODE=WINDOWSNT to make windows launch the JP2LAUNCHER.EXE and JAVAW.EXE files properly.
jp2launcher.exe windowsNT compatibility solves Java Verify failure problem at https://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp
javaw.exe windowsNT compatibility solves unable to open or Configure Java Control Panel problem.

*  search for JAVAW.EXE   inside  c:\program files\java\....\bin   
      or  c:\program files(x86)\java\.....\bin\
*  right-click mouse on  JAVAW   application icon logo
*  click  PROPERTIES
*  click  COMPATIBILITY
*  tick the checkbox at COMPATIBILITY MODE
*  choose  WINDOWS NT service pack
*  click APPLY or click OK

Now, the Configure Java Control Panel will start opening and working.

*  search for JP2LAUNCHER.EXE   inside  c:\program files\java\....\bin   
      or  c:\program files(x86)\java\.....\bin\
*  right-click mouse on  JP2LAUNCHER
*  click  PROPERTIES
*  click  COMPATIBILITY
*  tick the checkbox at COMPATIBILITY MODE
*  choose  WINDOWS NT service pack
*  click APPLY or click OK

Now, the Verify Java will be successful at https://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp

if we find 2 or 3 versions of JP2LAUNCHER and JAVAW when we search, then we must repeat the above for all of them.

in the Configure Java Control Panel Advanced tab we can set "Do not check" certificate revocation and disable security verification. and in the Security tab we may Edit Site List... for the Exception Site List ( add URLs to unblock sites )

I noticed, that at least one of the problems I had described here - Outlook.com, authorization is impossible - might be caused by the version of Java. On another copmuter, with Windfows 7 x32, Outlook WebApp works correctly in Opera.

Sorry, do I need to uninstall 64-bit Java version? Or they can co-exist?

They co-exist. Only remove if you have no use for it so you don't need to manually update the two versions when updates are released by Oracle. Few apps can use it, like Internet Explorer 64-bit.

I have the 64 bit version because I play Minecraft and want to assign more memory some times. But if you never use any Java programs that can use a lot of memory, such as games, graphics editors, or scrypt software, then you're better off using only the 32-bit version, as two versions are twice the effort to keep up to date.

And it also seems you can only tell by the installation path (contains x86). Seems Chrome made me install the 32-bit version of Java, which fixed it.

Just like you would have to do for other browsers like Chrome and Firefox, you'll have to download and install the 32-bit Java version (and that's what you did after accessing with Chrome).
