I contacted FASTMAIL about it who say that it is a function of my e-mail client - which I assume is Opera and my IMAP setting. I checked that but found nothing that would indicate such an action or default.

How can I be assured that NOTHING disappears unless deleted by myself?

I recently got a new PC and I have Windows 8.1 and Opera 12.16, but use the Chrome browser and Fastmail, and my address is @operamail.com.
