This problem has cropped up with me, really bad. It's very clear that it's not malware. I've not only scanned my system numerous times, I've switched to Chrome browser as my default browser (but kept using Opera) and it continues to open Opera windows randomly. I'll be nowhere near my computer. No input, nothing going on with my computer, and a window just pops up. It's clearly Opera specifically that is having the issue, I'm absolutely sure of it. No other explanation makes sense. None of my extensions have anything to do with opening new windows (nor would they, cause that's a really weird thing to do randomly for no reason). There's gotta be an explanation for this. I really want to give Opera one last chance before I kick it out my life, cause I was already on edge with how bad it's been handling 32 gigs of memory (constant slowdowns with only 15 or so tabs, most of which are suspended). If this continues happening, it's the final straw. I gotta switch back.

You can keep bookmarks by exporting them.
If you do, don't forget to turn out the option that Opera should start with system start - it's somewhere in the preferences.

If Opera is the default browser, I would change it for a while too

Did you try start using a new profile directory?
