I cannot launch Opera 106 64-bit on a latest Windows 10 22H2 build.

It haven't been used for a while (actually it's my sister-in-law's PC).

After updating Windows from 21H2 I tried to launch the browser but I got only black square, then a biiger white square, three of four times, then nothing.

I wiped out the browser with the user data, made a fresh install with the standalone installer, changing the 32-bit version with a 64-bit, launched it as administrator, launched it from Administrator account, but I get the same. The disk check, as well as sfc /scannow and dism, were performed. No errors shown in Event Logger.

I enabled logging but I don't know how to properly read the log file.

What I noticed was:

After I reinstalled Opera I tried --disable-gpu again and it worked! Maybe I should have tried that twice yesterday. Thank you so much!..

I chose opengl in the flag, and I see that hardware acceleration is turned off. Should I try to find an option where it's on or leave it as it is?

Then try reinstalling. That more-thorough uninstall might help. Not sure though, but worth a try.

Can you enable logging for a test standalone installation to a folder named "Opera Test" on your desktop?

In the log you provided, there are some signs of profile write permission errors, but you said you tried a standalone installation too. Would be interesting to see if those same errors happen there too or not.

I assume that if the Administrator account didn't make it, no user account might.

I wouldn't assume and would check just to make sure. It might not be a permission issue and could be something else.

I only have Windows Defender

Did you check the Smart App Control settings in Windows Security to make sure it's off?

Try turning off all the options in the Reputation-based protection section in Windows Security too to test if that helps.
