It eats up my CPU
I'm Premium, all extensions deactivated.
Opera is the only brower behaving like that.
Can we have some feedback? IS anything happening in this so called support forum?

I wouldn't really recommend downloading a DLL file from a web page other than the original author. Specially when it would be just for solving an issue with a specific software.

Hello
I've finally (accidentally) identified the problem. Following up to you so you can help if any other people come across it too .
This was a corrupted DLL in my system32: msmpeg2vdec.dll
MPEG2 video decoder. Weird.
Anways : I've installed a game, hotwheels unleashed 2 and it tried to load the splash screen videos and windows kept spaming me with error message concerning msmpeg2vdec.dll "'not being a valid windows dll and couldn't be loaded" . It clicked! Must be it!
Downloaded the dll from DLL-files.com, had to fiddle a bit to obtain administrato rights for the whole of system32 folder and replaced the dll .

Instantly fixed : all videos play in opera without any issue. Youtube shorts don't make my computer lag anymore. Everything is back in perfect working order!

Don't ask me how it happened , why a MPEG2 dll would cause that much issues etc, no idea.

Thanks Saint Hotwheels!

FF, chrome and Edge play it just fine , to test it, I downloaded the video from youtube using jdownloader and it plays on my system just fine.

Basically, my opera will not render any MP4 (on other sites ) that has AVC1 has a codec. AND youtube shorts is having it on his knees.

I'm pretty sure that your computer hardware specs are the problem

No. No other browser give me that issue . Also all AVC1 videos actually give me problem on Opera as it can not render them but my system's player and other browsers can.

There's something wrong with Opera, period.

because I tried replicating your problem by opening yt shorts with task manager and looking at how that goes
it didn't eat up my CPU, it eats the same amount of CPU as loading a video on YouTube.
I'm not on premium and I have a bunch of extensions
I compared the same test with Google Chrome and Firefox (with no extensions), and Opera GX still ran better overall.
