I use Opera 26.0.1656.24 on OS X 10.9.5.

I'd like the "w" search engine shortcut to use english version of wikipedia. Using "w" currently gives results in Hungarian (I'm located in Hungary).

I found this thread mentioning the same issue: https://forums.opera.com/topic/272/no-way-to-change-default-search-keywords-19-0-1326-9 but that thread is a year old. Has nothing been done since then to address this?

Thanks!

No doubt you saw from the other thread that you can create a new custom search engine with a different letter, perhaps e for encyclopedia or English Wikipedia. Initially it may feel different but after using it for a short time it will feel totally natural.

To create a new English entry like this, first to to the English Wikipedia homepage, right click in the search box on the top right-hand corner of the page and choose
Create Search Engine…
. In the dialog that appears, add your selected keyword (or letter) and click
Create
.
