to repeat the question (with one small clarification):

What do I have to do to get Opera to automatically log on to my Opera account and synchronize with my latest Opera session (tabs, passwords, favorites etc.), irrespective of which system that last session had transpired on? Ideally, if there is another active session on another system, it should recognize the fact and notify me accordingly.

A small step for you, very likely, a gaint leap for me.
Thanks!

You are correct that I may not have noticed changes in the background in the organization of bookmarks in the bar on top, but the left sidebar continues to look very notably different on the laptop.

The bookmarks can be seen in the bookmarks page and they aren't separated by workspaces.

On the desktop PC that I want the laptop to become synchronized with, I redistributed my bookmarks into a number of workspaces. This change has not appeared on my laptop so far.

Except I don't see any synchronization at all, really. Earlier today I switched Settings > Synchronisation > Advanced sync settings > from "Do not sync data" to "Sync everything", and nothing happened or changed whatsoever.
