<p dir="auto">So how can we revert to the cleaner previous version and use that instead?</p>

<p dir="auto">Do not start Opera. Edit the "hosts" file in your Windows directory, and add the following line to block the update server. The file is usually located at "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts" if Windows was installed with default settings.</p>

<p dir="auto">Optional: If you go to "Update &amp; Recovery", Opera will try to look for the latest update, and it will fail after a few seconds. In case it disturbs anyone, set the following "System Variable" in Windows:</p>
<p dir="auto"><code>OPERA_AUTOUPDATE_DISABLED = 1</code></p>
<p dir="auto">(Search for "Edit the system environment variables" and click on it. Click "Environment variables" and under "System Variables" click "New" and add the above mentioned variable and value.)</p>
<p dir="auto">Note that this only disables the update option in "Update &amp; Recovery". To completely block updates, the hosts file needs to be edited as described.</p>

I don't know how to link to it so if you search you'll find it in his response to my question. The problem is, reverting will only be a temporary fix since we've been informed that Opera intends to push forward with Opera One and that the older version will only receive updates for a limited time.</p>
