<![CDATA[Opera creates debug.log files again and again...]]>I have a weird issue. When I open a pdf or any url file with opera gx, it creates debug.log file at file's folder. The content of debug.log file is this:

[0608/015818.442:ERROR:(-1)] Check failed: false.

There is no chromecast support option on opera settings, so don't say "disable chromecast support".

AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera GX Stable\Crash Reports\settings.dat: Access is denied. (0x5) or crashpad_client_win.cc(543)] CreateProcess: The system cannot find the file specified. (0x2) if you delete opera_crashreporter.exe probably it is unfixable, only devs can remove this log file

In file Explorer, open:

%appdata%\..\Roaming

Search for "crashpad" , select and delete ALL results (if prompt says file in use, then skip), restart windows.

Hmm, don't see anything in there that stands out. But, one other idea for a test (not a solution) is to temporarily create a new Windows users (local only one not tied to a Microsoft account), log into it and see if Opera GX does it there too or not.

I tested it on a new local user, and still have the same issue.
I will try to disable Opera GX scheduled Autoupdates as @george2014 said.

It only does it on OperaGX. I will test it with a local user, and tell you what I find.
And if there is a way to get details about what does that "Check failed: false." mean and why this is happening, tell me so that I can find a way to solve it. Really, this is annoying and this happens on any pc that I use.

For Opera and OperaPortable, there is no "debug.log" file created. With same settings and same files, OperaGX creates "debug.log" file on the installation folder, and on the file folder if I open anything (pdf or html) with OperaGX. During my test, I cleaned temp folders, profile and cache data folders at AppData, and "debug.log" files.

I think this issue is about Opera's autoupdate.

Uninstall Opera again and delete the install folder and both the profile and cache folders again. Then, delete everything in "C:\Windows\temp" and "C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\temp". Then, open up the Windows Task Scheduler, select "Task Scheduler Library" and make sure all Opera update tasks are gone (just in case the uninstaller missed something).

Then, download the Opera GX installer, launch it, click "options", adjust everything how you like and install.

For an existing profile, try deleting just the "crash report" folder in the profile folder.

However, since it's happening with another program, it may indeed be something outside of Opera. You can hit the Windows key + r to open the run dialog, type systempropertiesadvanced and hit enter, and then click the "Environment Variables" button to see if you can find any user or system environment variables set that have to do with debugging.

I think it is about something on settings for debug as default. I can't be the only one that have this issue. Any help for that? I think it may be a settings left on registry, or if not, this could be a common issue.
