Can't stop Opera from saving searches

When opening a new tab, I get the Google search box which is handy as heck, but it's a little buggy sometimes and will stack previous searches on top of new searches that I type for some reason. I've gone into my Google account and disabled autofill which works on the Google website, I've deleted my cookies and autofill data on Opera, and then even when opening a new private window, it still autofills this search box when I start typing.
How do I disable this?
