<![CDATA[Compatibility problem with Windows 8 64 bit version]]>Hey! I'm using Opera 12.16 and I have the weirdest problem ever since I bought a new, 64 bit based computer. I will divide the problem in two sections based on the option of installing the 32 bit or 64 bit version of Opera 12.16 so it's easier do follow.

IF 64 BIT VERSION IS INTALLED:
A lot of pages don't load completely (for example, twitch.tv's channel directory) and some just crash the browser (facebook pictures when opened outside of the "theater" option). I've tried reinstalling both the browser and flash but it didn't correct the issue.

IF 32 BIT VERSION IS INSTALLED:
Windows doesn't recognize it as a browser. Heck, it doesn't even seem to understand it's a program. I can't open links from other applications directly in Opera 12.16 because the computer doesn't even find the thing so I have to copy paste anything people send in my email or Skype. When prompted with the option to choose a browser I'm only given Internet Explorer and "Look around the shop", no Opera.

In short, Opera 12.16 64 bit version doesn't work properly but the 32 bit isn't recognized by the computer so I can't define it as the preset browser. Is there a solution to this?

-- Opera Software recently experienced an attack on its internal infrastructure. Following best practices, Opera is replacing signing certificates in Opera with newly issued certificates. (The time window for possibly-compromised 12.15 version downloads was very narrow in time, but in principle some downloads could have been performed therein with flawed/faked certs, so Opera bumped the version to assure new clean certs would be deployed to users).

I don't see any sort of critical vulnerabilities that allows, for an example, buffer overflow attacks.

Opera 12.16 is a recommended upgrade offering security and stability enhancements.

Confirmed. 12.16 was defective release.

Use 12.14: ftp://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/win/1214/int/
Better compatibility (twitch.tv works good etc.), much less crash

Opera 12 is not being developed for future standards. It will increasingly become obsolete.
